How to Measure Your Head Size
Finding your perfect hat size is quick and easy. All you need is a soft tape measure (or a piece of string and a ruler).
What you'll need
- A soft tape measure (or string and a ruler)
- A mirror (helpful but optional)
- About 30 seconds
Method 1 – Using a tape measure
- Place the tape measure around your head where your hat would naturally sit.
- This is usually about 1cm above your ears and across the middle of your forehead.
- Make sure the tape is level all the way around and not tilted.
- The tape should feel snug but not tight (like a comfortable hat fit).
- Note the measurement in centimetres.
Method 2 – Using string
- Wrap a piece of string around your head in the same position.
- This should be about 1cm above your ears and across your forehead.
- Mark where the string overlaps.
- Lay the string flat and measure it with a ruler.
- This gives you your head size measurement.
Helpful tips
- If you are between sizes, we usually recommend choosing the slightly larger size, as our hats include a discreet drawstring ribbon inside for slight size adjustment and a comfortable fit.
- If your hair is thick or you plan to wear your hat over lots of hair, measure with your hair styled as you would normally wear it.
- Our rolling sun hats include an adjustable inner drawstring so you can fine-tune the fit.
